I get really aggravated when I'm about 1/4 into the book and I realize the writing is not what I would expect from Sandra Brown. Then I get that awful feeling that comes with being duped. Yep...it is a re-published book from 1984. If it had been an exceptional book I might have been more forgiving but it was dreadful. I had to go ahead and move on to the last chapter to read the ending so I could just get my mistake over with.Tags : Secret Splendor (Silhouette Classics) [Sandra Brown] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers.,Sandra Brown,Secret Splendor (Silhouette Classics),Silhouette,0373482477,Romance - Contemporary,Fiction,Fiction Romance Contemporary,Non-Classifiable,Romance: Modern
Secret Splendor Silhouette Classics Sandra Brown 9780373482474 Books Reviews
I discovered Sandra Brown a few years ago. I couldn't remember which book I'd already read,so I started from the top of the list. It's a romance! No crime at all! But lots of teasing and steamy sex! Not what I wanted at all. But it was a good read!
I haven't read one of Sandra Brown's books I didn't like. This one is just as exciting and "twisty" and full of great characters and an awesome story!
This book was a bit strange in a way that the dialogue and so much of the interaction between the two protagonists was a bit lacking. However, it was much better at the end with the shared responsibility of both taking the blame for the issues in between them. It's a bit tiresome to see the woman always being blamed and manipulated by men. Give the women a bit more power and gumption.
Purchased this book for my mother who is a Sandra Brown fanatic! She can read one of Ms Brown’s novels in a day or two. Though this was my first used book purchase through my mom tells me the book was almost perfect. Book was done by day after it arrived to her home. Another advantage of Prime I can buy & send her in New Hampshire while I’m living in Tennessee.
I always enjoy reading Sandra Brown this one had an unusual storyline.A woman who has been forced by her gynecologist husband to become a surrogate for a power couple sets out to find the child after the tragic death of her other son.Arden is now divorced from her greedy loser husband and only wants to see the baby she gave birth to but never saw. It turns out that the father is has been tennis pro Drew McCasslin. Drew's wife was killed in an accident and this set him on an alcoholic binge that has ruined his career. When Arden meets him he has turned his life around and is now on the road to recovering his tennis career. When they meet there is mutual attraction and they start to date and Arden meets and instantly loves her son. Problem is that she is afraid to tell Drew that she is Matt's biological mother and the secret is revealed in a tragic way. Good character development and good story line.
One of Sandra Brown's more unique plot lines for a love story. But weak in everything else. Not her best dialogue not her best love scenes. At the end I'd say the love scene even got a bit creepy with reference to the child and husband suckling. Easy reading which made it enjoyable enough but with the interesting plot could have been stronger in content.
Sandra Brown may write fiction but it is not unlike real life. Her characters and the situations are so well grounded, it feels like you're reading about someone you actually know! In this story,a young woman is stuck in an unhealthy marriage to an unethical and unfeeling horrible man whose history of deceit starts at the moment they met and extended throughout the entire story and to make things worse he is a doctor! She has been manipulated and controlled by her worm of a husband. So when she sees a way out she takes it. Her desperation leads her into an uncomfortable situation that she cannot get herself out of because of the war between her heart and her conscience.
Another hard to put down story by Sandra Brown. Great characters, life like story and rewarding ending. An easy 4 stars!
