I looked forward to the story of Rose and Nate. It was everything you could ask for - mystery, hate, greed, blackmail, and spirits both good and bad. I enjoyed them added to the story - the author made sure good prevailed in the afterlife too, an assurance love does not end. And there are many references to the Kellingtons. What I loved most was the extraordinary devotion and love among the Emersons and childhood friend, Nate, who also suffered from cold, distant parents. All dovetails and is explained in this book. Every character was real and admirable, but I especially liked Maude and Victor. You can laugh, cry and sigh throughout! Specially like Colin's early writing attempt of Christmas Carol. Wonderful heartwarming series of true love and friendship not just surviving trials and difficulties, but thriving and growing in spite of them!!

Enjoyed it very much and I didn't want to put it down. I would like to recommend this book for anyone that enjoys a good family story that doesn't bore you with the bad words and too much sex.
I enjoyed every word in this book, and I don't want the series to end. These characters are wonderful to spend time with after a stressful day at work and I will miss them. It's amazing that each book in this series--and in the Kellingtons series as well--has a different feel to it depending on the main characters, yet there's a comfortable familiarity that that pulls you right into the story. I will certainly be checking for more to read from this author!
I really enjoyed this series and I can't want to read Never and Always, a book about the Emerson and Kellington younger sisters. Nate and Rose were great characters. I would have like an epilogue letting us know how they turned out, but you can't have everything. Hopefully with Never and Always there will be some highlights on where all of the characters ended up. Looking forward to it. Would recommend.
I really struggled with rating this book for several reasons. There was so much that was not believable, too much was happening at once toward the end, and what's with the ghosts? I've read the entire series and don't remember any paranormal elements in the other books. Also, the 2 epilogues were very unsatisfying. Overall, this book was a disappointment. I give it 2.5 rounded up to 3 stars.
LOVED IT! I appreciated the intertwining of all the Emerson siblings stories in this final Emerson story. It felt like a family reunion. We learn who is doing what, who had (or is having) a baby. Everything is wrapped up neat and tidy. Thank you, Ms Driscoll, for another great story. So looking forward to the Kellington story (stories?)!
As usual, WOW!, This story was a little different than the others with the ghosts appearing, but I loved it.
After I started reading I could not put the book down until I finished it. I loved how Maureen mentioned a few of the Kellingtons in this story. I loved the suspense and I could hardly wait until the end to see what happened to Nate's evil father and stepmother. Talking about "just deserves".
Thanks again Maureen for a great book and can't wait until the next one. One more thing, do you think you could mention Liam in this next book and let us know what's going on with his family?
Alas, this biik wraps up the Emerson family. But it's a doosie, with danger coming from all directions as Nate works to find who is behind the potential traitorous connections with France his Father the Duke of Bancroft? The former Earl of Ridgecrest? The former Earl of Layton? Marriage to Rose only complicates matters although she is an asset in many ways. I love the witty conversations and the strong family connections throughout the series. Highly recommended but do read in order due to the ongoing mystery and investigation.
